Last year the company that owns Redis decided they were changing the licence. Meaning Redis is no longer “Open Source” according to the OSI Definition.

This created 2 versions of Redis. A new Enterprise Edition and Redis Community Eddition.

Which one should you use? You are going hate me for this but it depends. Personally I have already started digging into some of the other open source alternatives. Especially the ones AWS give a discount to.
